Meet Johannes

Johannes – iOS Developer

Meet Johannes, iOS Developer at Sleep Cycle. His experience with, and passion for app architecture helps excel the Sleep Cycle customer journey.

What do you do and what do you love about your role?

I work in the Growth team with iOS app development. Occasionally, I do some backend, Android and web developing as well. I love working with the architecture around the customer journey and love the opportunity to use a holistic approach.

How would you describe Sleep Cycle?

Generous, caring and relaxed.

Why should a prospective candidate choose Sleep Cycle as an employer?

It is a fantastic product with the potential to be even better. The ‘flat’ organization means everyone has the ability to make an impact. That means a lot to me. And my colleagues are awesome!

Favorite Sleep Cycle feature?

The smart alarm was what caught my interest in 2011 when I decided to purchase the app, and it is still my favorite feature.

Favorite Sleep Cycle Benefit?

You are off work on your birthday!

Favorite quote?

“There is always someone smarter than you”. This comment was made by the late Lars Pareto when I was studying at the University. It somehow stuck with me, reminding me to be humble and listen to others.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I consider myself a quite competent beer brewer, I also compose electronic music when I have the time and inspiration that no one gets to hear.

How do you prefer to spend a Saturday evening?

Going to a concert, drinking craft beer, mixing cocktails or playing video games with my son.

What’s your favorite moment at Sleep Cycle?

This might be an unexpected answer. A colleague accidentally dropped a 20L water bottle on the floor while some of us were having a meeting. The meeting room was flooded, and people were jumping in to help clean it up. The meeting continued as if nothing happened, creating this absurd scene that could easily be from a Ruben Östlund movie. It still puts a smile on my face when thinking about it. :-)
